Features and Benefits of Instrumentation Products

EFP carries a broad range of flow sensors that offer visual indication, continuous sensing, and accurate switching for use in liquid or gases. Our many choices of continuous level or pressure sensors and on/off switches provide high-reliability monitoring and detection of a wide range of fluid media. Requirements can range anywhere from the sensing of cooking oil, hydraulic fluids, diesel fuel tanks, water, and wastewater. These instrumentation products are ruggedly designed to address customer measurement challenges in hydraulics and pneumatics, water and wastewater, HVAC, OEM compressors and pumps, refrigeration systems, oil and gas machine tooling, medical gases, and other applications. Automated temperature monitoring and control offer high-precision temperature control and can feature simultaneous heating and cooling control and temperature/humidity controls to allow simultaneous temperature and humidity control.

Types of Instrumentation Products

Flow Sensors and Switches

Flow sensors and turbine flow sensors feature high-quality, corrosion-resistant materials for use in tough environments, with material choices ranging from stainless steel to Ryton for vast chemical compatibility. Our flow sensors utilize Hall Effect technology to produce a series of voltage pulses that provide a user with accurate and reliable flow measurements. At preset rates ranging from 50 cc/min to 100 GPM, these switches will initiate alarm actuation or automatic shutdown of a system. Product types include piston type, shuttle type and paddle type flow switch models and electronic switches. Versions include switches with fixed or adjustable actuation settings, models for viscosity compensation or high pressures, in-line models, and designs to satisfy any mounting or space requirement.

Level Switches and Sensors

To effectively address such a wide variety of level measurement challenges, EFP offers a broad range of contact, noncontact, and nonintrusive liquid level switches and sensors. These are available in multiple technology types, including reed switch-based floats, solid-state electro-optical, conductivity, capacitive, ultrasonic, radar and piezo-resonant. Multiple liquid-level sensing technologies may also be incorporated within a single application. Standard catalog products for liquid-level sensing include single-point level switches, continuous level transmitters, multipoint level switches, and visual level indicators.

Pressure Switches and Sensors

Industrial pressure transducers are available with ratiometric output for continuous real-time monitoring. They are also offered in gauge, absolute, differential, vacuum, and compound types, and in standard ranges from vacuum to 10,000 psi. High-temperature and submersible versions are also available. This includes sputtered thin film, capacitance, and micromachined silicon (MMS) pressure transducers. Rugged industrial pressure switches provide basic On/Off functionality, either factory set point or adjustable, for a broad range of price and performance compatibility. Depending upon selection, units can offer over 1 million cycles of reliable service. Repeatability ranges are typically from 0.25% to 5% of the set point. A full family of water pressure switches is also available, with high reliability over a standard range of 2 to 6,000 psi. Available pressure switch enclosure options include aluminum, stainless steel, brass, reinforced plastic, and zinc-plated steel. Wetted parts include choice of Buna-n, Teflon®-coated Kapton®, stainless steel, PTFE, EPDM or Viton® diaphragm. Standard pressure port options include stainless steel, brass, zinc, or aluminum.

Temperature Controllers and Transducers

Temperature controllers offer high-precision temperature control with two-degree-of-freedom PID algorithm, high-speed sampling speed of 50 ms and ±0.2% measurement accuracy. Our temperature controllers offer simultaneous heating and cooling control, group PID, zone PID control and anti-reset windup functions for optimal temperature control in various applications. Program control and fixed control models are available with temperature/humidity controllers allowing simultaneous temperature and humidity control with the included THD-RM temperature/humidity sensor for temperature and humidity input correction. Modular multichannel high-performance temperature controllers can control up to 2 or 4 channels of input/output simultaneously, with 50 ms high-speed sampling cycle, ±0.3% measurement accuracy, and include simultaneous heating and cooling control function. The control channels can be expanded up to 32 units and 128 channels, without additional wiring for power or communication. Up to 16 communication modules can be connected to a master device for a total of 1,024 control channels. The modular design allows flexible expansion, including analog input/output modules, digital input/alarm output modules, CT input modules, PLC ladderless communication (RS422/485) and Ethernet communication modules. Temperature/humidity transducers have built-in temperature and humidity sensors and are capable of various outputs, including DC 4-20 mA, 1-5 VDC, RS485 communication with a range of -19.9 to 60.0°C, and the humidity sensors have a range of 0.0 to 99.9% RH with HART protocol to support 22 types of input.

Proximity Sensors

To determine the proximity, intrusion, distance, or simple presence we offer photoelectric sensors to detect distance, absence or presence of objects using a light transmitter and receiver. Compact photo-micro sensors photoelectric sensors with built-in amplifiers to detect presence of mechanical parts in equipment. Fiber optic sensors combine optic fiber cables and amplifiers to provide accurate detection of objects in various applications. Displacement sensors can measure thickness, width, level difference, disparity, curve, evenness of target objects by detecting the amount of displacement using laser beams. Laser scanners utilize the time-of-flight (ToF) method to measure the round-trip time of the infrared laser beam, to accurately detect presence of objects within a wide range area. Proximity sensors are common, reliable, and durable solutions for applications requiring non-contact detection.
